Set in Indonesia in 1965. With this piece I had the opportunity to explore period and culturally correct props and costume. From sourcing accurate guns to dressing English countryside barns to look like the barracks and office of a 1960s military base.

Desk documents created with typewriter and physical stamps for authenticity.

Barracks beds made from crates, army green fabric and cut to size plywood.

Period and place accurate de-activated guns.

Corporal’s Office set dressing. Repurposing fabrics and boards for additional colour and texture.

Costume.

Batons made based on this photo of 1970s Indonesian Riot Squad member found during research.

Military costumes with accurate digitally embroidered badges and batons made based on images from the time. Prisoners in dirtied culturally accurate clothing.

Creating the look of sweat and injuries including bruises and wounds, including bullet wound in head.
